Bert & Ernie......Say it aint' so!!!

Mercy, how things have changed since we first met Big Bird!

AZ Republic 11/14/09

This editorial cartoon was in my Saturday paper and I just had to share it with you. Now typically I don't read the funnies because, well, to tell you the truth most of them make no sense to me, are not funny or just too liberal for my conservative convictions. But this cartoon is a slightly humorous (my fav - Cookie Monster being told he has to become Veggie Monster!) yet sad commentary on how drastically this nation is changing.......politically, culturally, socially, financially and even though there was no direct reference to spiritually - we know that when a people turn their back on God, decline and decay follows!

I find the Webster's definition of the word change very interesting.....

Change - implies making either an essential difference often amounting to a loss of original identity or a substitution of one thing for another.

As I read the definition "change" a scripture in Psalms 116 immediately came to mind. To give you a quick synopsis of what David was emphasizing ....... God's people had forgotten what He had done for them and turned to their own ways and created their own gods and in doing so they gave up their glory - their original identity placed upon them by God! The particular verses that came to my mind are.....

Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass;
They forgot God their Savior .......(Psalm 106: 20-21)

The NIV says they exchanged their glory......they forgot the God who saved them!!

All I can say is God help us!! We've been changing and exchanging our God given identity that He gave this land for other gods and their agenda's! There's been too much changing, exchanging and forgetting about the God of Heaven and Earth that created and founded our nation!!

I'm praying that the scales will fall from blinded eyes, that ears that have been stopped up would open and hardened hearts would be softened and a hunger for righteousness - God and His right way of doing things would flood the people of our great land! That in these last days His Glory would fall upon us and a mighty Harvest would be swept into the Kingdom!! To God be the Glory!

Lastly, my heart is always encouraged when I meditate upon this..........

My God NEVER, EVER changes! (Malachi 3:6) nor alters or changes
His Promises! (Psalm 89:34)

His Word will always stand firm! He is Faithful, alert and actively
watching over His Word to perform it on my behalf !
(Jeremiah 1:12 amp)

When everything around me changes, kingdoms rise and fall, and foundations may shake
but the Lord is a sure foundation for me.....He is the stability of my times! (Isaiah 33:6)

I can always, at all times, depend and have confidence in Him......
He NEVER CHANGES! (James 1:17)

Sweet Blessings!

I am with you sister in your today's post! It's sad that many are turning their back on the Lord and think wise with their own wisdom.
This morning, the 1st news I read was the 1st Marijuana Cafe was opened in Portland. I can't imagine where this would lead as the use of illegal substances are the most causes of crimes committed and thus, our prison systems are crowding.
"Change" is the slogan of our country's leader...but it's not the change we can believe in. Sad to say. May God give us all revival... Blessings to you and great post.

For a long season, I exchanged my privileges as a child of the King for worldly pleasure. I've spent the better part of the last decade exchanging things back as they should be.

Praying the same for our world, and yes, I'm joining you and Amy Grant in support of the troops. I saw this on Fox News this weekend. What a simple and great way to spread God's love this Christmas.

I love the scriptures you posted that clarify that our God never changes, especially Psalm 89. Tonight my daughter and I were studying His faithfulness and saw that verse. Thank you for your prayers for us. Please know our prayers are with you, too.

I started out smiling at the cartoon - that is, until I read it. By time I got to "God never changes" I was teary eyed. This is a powerful post, Jackie! I pray many people read this. It's time to jump out of the boiling pot of water...

Blessings Jackie, What an absolutely beautiful BLOG! Love your Fresh Anointing header and your words also seem freshly anointed on change!

I'm so thankful God never CHANGES! Yet God is good. That which is not good needs to change for the better. Love the scriptures you share. His Word is everlasting! His promises are true. I pray that more of us will not conform to the ways of the world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds.

I do not know how you "stumbled" upon me tonight but I am blessed.
Thank you for sharing about OUR TROOPS & Amy Grant! It's TIME WE GIVE back for their many sacrifices! Worthy are projects like this...I just did another on
Advent Conspiracy & Operation Christmas Child besides Compassion's recent trip to El Salvador. God bless America & you & your heart! It's a blessing to get to know you! Thank you for sharing!

This so reminds me to pray 2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
The Lord is talking about "us" we who are called by his name!
It is time!
Great post! Thank God, He never changes!!

Thank you so much for visiting tonight and for your sweet comment. It is sad what is happening to our country. That definition about losing our identity was so true! Agreeing with you in prayer ~ Blessings ~
