"Step it UP - Wonder Woman!"

Don't ya just love how something will trigger a trip down memory lane. A song, a fragrance, a Wonder Woman bobble head doll........What! Yes, a Wonder Woman bobble head doll! I was perusing my favorite thrift store the other day for decorating treasures when low and behold, staring me in the face from the nick-nack shelf was Wonder Woman in all of her bobble head glory! She inspired me, made me laugh and as if by wonder, I began a stroll down memory lane. Memories began flooding my mind of how cute my little Katie was running through the house fighting imaginary forces of evil.....jumping off the sofa, twirling with her hands on her hips deflecting the darts of the bad guys with her aluminum foil power cuffs (I made those, I want you to know!) and thwarting the plans of the enemy with her power tiara and lasso of truth. I'm sorry I don't have a photo to share with you but in this mothers mind and heart I can still see her - my little red headed Wonder Woman filled with strength, innocence and enemy conquering wonder!

This memory lane stroll got me thinking about us - the women of God. We truly are Wonder Women you know! We have such a difficult time "owning" and accepting how truly wonderful He created us and what we possess through Him. Honestly, I can't think of one woman I know (me included) that hasn't had some or a lot of "stuff" to overcome and be healed or delivered from. It's a process, but even in the process - from beginning to end - we are the Wonder Women of God. He designed and empowered us to be Wonder Women!

For years I was living in the old identity of "Jackie" - the girl from a broken home (so I must be a "broken girl"). "Jackie"- the girl with abandonment and fear of rejection issues because Daddy left me. "Jackie" - the wife who was not good enough so her first husband left her for someone else when she was three months pregnant with their son. And last but not least, "Jackie" the divorced single mom on food stamps - the worst identity on earth for me!

For many years I allowed myself to be identified or labeled by the trauma of those issues. The hurt, pain and disappointment defined my identity and that's exactly what the enemy wanted.....to keep me weakened by trauma and defined by the pain - the farthest thing from a Wonder Woman! However, there came a crossroads in my life when I cried out to the Lord and sought Him with my whole heart for release from the strongholds ruling my heart and emotions. He met me there, Glory to God and over time while staying in the process of submitting to His Word and spending time in His presence I was transformed! My identity, my true identity in Him emerged.....no longer defined by past pain but redefined as His Daughter and will always continually be His work in progress - Thank you Jesus!

You know, as I stood there reminiscing about my little girls antics, it dawned upon me that there are several things about the cartoon Wonder Woman that we ACTUALLY possess through Jesus!

Let's take a look....

She wore an "anointed" golden tiara upon her head that was used as a weapon.

We wear upon our head powerful weapons of Wisdom and Grace (Proverbs 1:9), Everlasting Joy (Isaiah 35:10), Blessings (Proverbs 10:6), His Anointing (Psalm 23:5), His covering in the battle (Psalm 140:7).

She wore a cape of power.

We have been adorned with a garment of salvation and a royal robe of righteousness and mighty armor (Isaiah 61:10 and Ephesians 6:11).

She wore a lasso of truth used to expose the enemy and bind him.

We have faith in THE WORD OF TRUTH (John 1:14, John 5:24, John 17:17) and overflowing with His power through the name of Jesus and His Blood to bind the enemy and loose chains of bondage! (Matthew 16:19 and Psalm 149:6-9).

She possessed powers to set the captives free.

We are infused with His power and the anointing of the Holy Sprit to break the power of the enemy and lead captives to freedom through Christ Jesus! (Isaiah 61:1-3 and II Corinthians 10:3-4).

She's a fictional cartoon character.

YOU ARE THE REAL DEAL - YOU ARE HIS WONDER WOMAN!!!!

Yep, sisters, we are His Wonder Women. We are infused with the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead (Romans 8:11)....miracle, wonderworking power! Power to do anything we are called to do and power to set the captives free ...

I have strength for all things in Christ
Who empowers me
(I am ready for anything and equal to anything
through Him Who infuses inner strength into me,
I am self sufficient in Christ's sufficiency)
Phil 4:13 amp.

Don't allow the enemy to steal your identity! Expose him, stop him in the Mighty Name of Jesus because you are a sign and a wonder of the wonderworking power of Christ Jesus! You are a Wonder Woman!

Oh, last but not least - Please watch this 1977 Wonder Woman television trailer. Watch what she does and listen to the words in the song. I think it will have special meaning to you now - it did for me! Who would of thought a Wonder Woman bobble head doll and a 32 year old television trailer would be sooo used by the Holy Spirit to encourage us gals to STEP IT UP and fully embrace who we are in Him and live as His Wonder Women!! Isn't He Wonderful!

Sweet Blessings!

Jackie, how true your words are! Did you know Lynda Carter is from the Phoenix area? My husband met her.

You know you never really know what other women have gone through in their lives. I'm amazed at how joyful you are despite trials in your life. You are an inspiration to me. I know the only way you could survive and thrive is through your relationship with the Lord.

I, for one, am very thankful that you joined the blogging community. You may not realize how much your words have helped and encourage me. Thank you for that Jackie. And thank you for your prayers for my sister.

Love,
Debbie

That is the biggest hoot! I loved that show, and now hearing it again after reading your words packs a real punch (no pun intended). Honestly, after my divorce, I wore my condemnation and self-imposed "hatred" for long season. I'm finally free from the enemy's schemes to keep me as I was, broken, dejected, feeling like the biggest loser in the world. Thank God for his marvelous grace that never let me go and that kept seeking me, even in my darkest night.

Thanks for sharing your heart.

What a wonderful post! We are indeed "wonder woman" in God's eyes, and we need to start seeing ourselves as He does! And believing what He says! Luke 15:31 "My son", the father said "You are always with me and everything I have is yours"
God bless you Jackie!

Wow.

Look at you. Just... in awe over you, over God living in you.

You are a beautiful, treasured soul -- a superhero caped in God's righteousness. Fly high, sister! You are filled with "super-powers" -- resurrection power IN you.

You radiate His love.

I say thanks to you now, through this lump in my throat. You've endured much. How can we thank you enough for sharing???

Thank you.
- Jennifer
