STAY FOCUSED!

Look to the Lord and His Strength,
seek His face always.
Psalm 105:4

Hey Ya'll!

The Lord has been speaking to me allot lately about keeping my eyes set and fully focused upon Him and guarding my mind against runaway thoughts of doubt, fear and unbelief and securely placing my hope, faith and trust upon His promises like never before.   The days we're living in now and most certainly the days ahead will surely present plenty of opportunity to choose where our focus and trust will be placed.  The enemy and our fleshly nature will certainly tempt us to crater and buy into fear, doubt and unbelief and be dictated by the ever changing sway of circumstances and situations which rob us of our peace.  But, He's calling us to FOCUS our sights and continually renew our mind upon the BIGNESS of our God and His faithfulness!  It's within our continual gaze upon Him and His promises that our faith is increased, strength and courage imparted and our mind and heart are filled with His assuring and constant Peace.  And oh, how I need that, don't you?

As I was in Walmart last evening, I happened to take a moment to peruse the book section and noticed Jesus Calling by Sarah Young in a new beautiful updated cover and stopped to read todays word.  I have my own copy at home, but little did I know that the Holy Spirit would stop me in Walmart and speak to my heart (and I thought I was there for just milk and cat food)!  I share this word in hopes that it speaks to your heart as well.......

I am renewing your mind.
When your thoughts flow freely,
they tend to move toward problems,
circling round and round it attempts
to gain mastery.
Your energy is drained away from other matters
through this negative focus.
Worst of all, you loose focus of Me.

A renewed mind is Presence-focused.
Train your mind to seek Me in every moment, every situation.
Sometimes you can find me in your surroundings;
a lilting birdsong,
a loved one's smile,
golden sunlight,
At other times you must draw inward to find Me.
I'm always present in your spirit.
Seek My Face,
speak to Me,
and I will light up your mind.

I don't know about you, but I've had allot of opportunities lately to let my freely floating anxious thoughts circle round and round and wear me out with all of the wispers of "what if's", "when and why not's"!  And as I began to shift my gaze from Him and behold the circumstances, my blood pressure jumped and my head throbbed and my peace drained away!  As I mentioned above, He's calling us to fix our focus and trust upon Him like never before.  It is a choice we make, moment by moment, hour by hour and day by day.  It's time to be believers who REALLY BELIEVE He will do what He said He will do and place our complete focus, trust and thoughts upon Him and abide in His perfect peace!

HE IS FAITHFUL!!

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You,
all whose thoughts are fixed on You!
Isaiah 26:3 NLT

My heart says of You, "Seek His Face!"
Your face, Lord, I will seek.
Psalm 27:8 NIV

Jackie what a perfect post! I will have to try to find a copy of that book as it sounds full of wisdom and encouragement!

I can certainly agree with you on this, my thoughts too when left to themselves very quickly take a turn for to the negative rather than trusting the Lord has a perfect plan. Even though I am an optimistic person, it doesn't stop me from dwelling on all that "could" go wrong at times.

Thanks for sharing this today! It spoke to my heart for sure!

Excellent post Jackie. My thoughts often run to the "what if" too. Thanks for the wonderful reminder that I need to capture those thoughts and keep my mind on Him.

Have a great day!

Oh, I love that! I too need to look for that book....I love what it says....sometimes difficult to stay focused and when we don't, that is when doubts, fears, the "what ifs", etc. begin to play over and over in our minds...I speak from experience!!

Thanks for sharing this!

Amen! Thanks for sharing this. I am one that is quite often moved by my circumstances WAY too much. God has really had to teach me to keep my eyes fixed on Him. It really does make for a more peaceful life! Why is it so hard to do! Blessings!

I really needed to read this. I've read Joyce Meyer's 'Battlefield of the Mind'....and our Sunday school teacher talks about how all of our problems begin in the mind...with a single little thought!!! Thank you soooo much for sharing your heart...certainly gives me "food for thought"!! And...thank you for stopping by and visiting me @ Jeremiah 29:11!!! HOPE your day is blessed!

Oh this word is right on and I am going to come back and soak in it again. Before my feet hit the floor today I asked the Lord to renew my mind...I see there is a huge battle going on there...and it needs a faith boost.
Thanks for writing this...great post and a now word for me.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and yes!!!!!! it is cold...the coldest I have ever experienced in my life that I can remember. It is suppose to be in the 50's for Super Bowl and we may get it all again next week..such different weather...I will really appreciate spring this year, but for right now I am going to enjoy it through my five year olds eyes!

I read Psalm 27 this early, early this morning....and heard His voice through His Word and was praising Him for the deep blue of the morning sky before the sun rises.

Great post!

I've only been "up" 45 minutes and I already was going negative with my thinking and second guessing what others were thinking about some things I worked on this past week (church related) and I so easily can get pulled into that downward spiral of self doubt that steals my peace. I know you were probably thinking more along the lines of the awful things going on in the world, but this became very personal for me this morning Jackie.
Thank you, and with Cathy I say I need to cpture those thoughts and keep my mind on HIM!

Hey Dear Jackie! Well, we all know
we have to renew our minds daily,
but I needed this extra shot of
truth and wisdom today. Thank
you for always encouraging me.
Love you,
Sandy

Oh Jackie. This post hits home for me as well. He has been doing the same in my spirit and reminding me that I constantly have to seek HIS Face everyday. Trusting in HIM at all times. HE is where our Peace comes from. Amen!! I have so many thoughts on this... especially this weekend, where so many will be flocking to one place to see a Sport. Wow... I keep thinking in my spirit... how many would do that for Church or even to Pray for our Nation or situations in the World. (Egypt) And wouldn't it be so Awesome if everyone this Sunday in that Stadium, stopped and Prayed Together. WOW. It just gives me chills just thinking about it. Prayer moves Mountains. And when two or more gather in my name, I will be amongst them. Amen. Thank you for this Anointed Posts that truly blessed me Today.

Love, Nene

Jackie, I have really been enjoying your frequent visits to my blog lately. It looks like this is the season for our blog friendship to grow and deepen. I have read and appreciated your spirit filled posts in the past, too... and now the Lord's drawing my attention to also connect with what He's doing in your life - at a deeper level.

And we really are on the same page, and same spiritual frequency... this is my heart's delight when I know that a fellow blogger knows and understands just what God is saying and doing!

I absolutely loved this post of yours - for one thing the words FOCUS is a word I frequently hear from Him, and the verse Psalm 27:8 is one of my favorite verses...in fact the whole Psalm 27 itself!

I am hearing what you have said Jackie:
1. keep our eyes set, fully focused upon Him

2. guard our mind against runaway thoughts of doubt, fear and unbelief

3. securely place our hope, faith and trust upon His promises LIKE NEVER BEFORE.

I like those words like never before.

Because I have to agree with you that the days are evil and we will be tempted on every front to place our trust in ourselves and our abilities to fix or solve our problematic situations.

The quote from Sarah Young is timely too. Hopefully my best friend who lives in VA will be sending me my own copy of that book soon.

I so needed to read and hear this today.

Because there will always be, always be... another thing that will go wrong that will tempt us to let go of our gaze upon Him, and focus on our selves!

Yes, He's calling us "to FOCUS our sights and continually renew our mind upon the BIGNESS of our God and His faithfulness!"

I echo your words :
When we continually gaze upon Him and His promises
-"our faith is increased,"
-"strength and courage are imparted"
-"and our mind and heart are filled with His assuring and constant Peace."

Wow, this is plenty for this morning. It is my spiritual breakfast.

Love
Lidj

This is so right on. Focusing on Jesus is the key to peace. We can't think on two thoughts at the same time...why not Jesus instead of our own zig zagged way of figuring it all out!

Have a great weekend, my friend.
Love,
Mary

What a beautiful post. Psalm 84 has been what I have been chewing on lately. My heart and flesh cry out for the living God. And I just want to sit and gaze on His beauty. There are so many distractions in life. I want to pursue the One Thing that matters.

This wonderful post fits just perfectly with the Sunday School lesson that I'm teaching tomorrow!

I just love it when God does that for me. I love it and agree so much with what you said about those free running thoughts running away from a focus on his BIGNESS and his face.

I want to share that poem with my class tomorrow. Wonderful.

So glad to be visiting blogland tonight!

FOCUS is a great word! I, too, am guilty at times of allowing my "freely floating anxious thoughts" to circle round and round! Keeping my eyes on Jesus is the key!

Thank you for this great message.

So true! Seek His face and watch Him light up your mind!

that is so powerfully true.

FOCUS! He reminds me of that often in this current season too. Fear grips me - but He is faithful to turn me right around...and keeps me focused. I just Love Him. I love the gentle reminders of His enduring selfless LOVE.

Stay faithfully encouraged!

I can't begin to tell you how much that book means to me. In fact, just this morning God met with me in the message of the day.

God's Presence is so sweet and tender today, and stopping here has given me wings....

Love you, dear friend!

JACKIE!! I am standing on my feet and cheering! This was PERFECT!

How frustrated I get at myself - always listening to the "what if's, when and why not's" - that was perfectly said. I do that ALL the time! Grrr...

Loved the excerpt from "Jesus Calling" - never thought of it like that. That my free-flowing thoughts just naturally go to problems. Interesting. Makes sense, though, doesn't it?

So, I'm going to use God's Word to "SEE" with - and FOCUS on Him alone!

GOD BLESS!
